Holistic Pediatric Services

Our Pediatricians

Lawrence B. Palevsky MD

Lawrence is the Northport Wellness Center’s holistic pediatrician. His clinical practice includes experience in pediatric emergency and intensive care medicine, in-patient and out-patient pediatric medicine, neonatal intensive care medicine, newborn and delivery room medicine, as well as conventional, holistic and integrative pediatric private practice in NYC.

Dr. Palevsky is a former fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, former president of the American Holistic Medical Association, a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, and a medical advisory board member to the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in New York City, Developmental Delay Resources, and the National Vaccine Information Center.

Additionally, Dr. Palevsky teaches holistic integrative pediatric and adolescent medicine to parents and medical and allied health professionals both nationally and internationally. And besides attending to the needs of children with complex medical problems, he also provides primary care services for those families seeking a more holistic approach to health care.

Our bodies have the innate capacity to heal themselves. In pediatric health care, and in Dr. Palevsky’s clinical practice, the art of applying this core principle is what makes the holistic approach an advantage for ultimate healing and the maintenance of optimal health. It is Dr. Palevsky’s professional belief that wellness in children can be successfully restored and maintained if we stop suppressing the symptoms they express during their acute and chronic illnesses.

Consequently, Dr. Palevsky encourages parents to let children express their symptoms when they’re sick. Parents can learn to use remedies that help children feel better and heal more effectively, without altering the important physiology, which is helping them cleanse their systems. Opportunities to advance children’s health may include changes in nutrition, lifestyle, parenting and education; the use of supplements, essential oils or herbs; a reduction in their stress levels; and referrals to homeopaths, acupuncturists, chiropractors and/or other health professionals.

Dr. Palevsky strives to help parents access their knowledge and strengthen their confidences through their own experiences and intuition, thus supporting the idea that parents are the primary care providers for their children. He provides patients and their families with personalized, comprehensive consultations to address their children’s wellness, and acute and chronic illnesses. His job is to observe the symptoms children experience, permit the process to unfold on its own, and intervene when necessary to make sure the healing process is underway.
